TIME FOR A CHANGE – SALT OAKWOOD REOPENS AS THE CLOCK INN

A Traditional Pub with a Modern Twist – Opening Friday 25th April 2025.
Oakwood, Leeds – There’s something timeless about a great local pub and that’s exactly what we’re bringing back. After a careful and characterful refurbishment, SALT Oakwood will reopen its doors as The Clock Inn on Friday 25th April.

The new name is an ode to the iconic clock tower, sitting proudly in the local community since its move from Kirkgate market in 1912, The Clock Inn is a return to everything we love about the great British pub – roaring real fires, cask ales, cosy corners, community spirit and of course, a warm welcome for all.

This exciting refurbishment brings a return to true traditional pub style – think rich lincrusta panelling, heritage wallpapers, comfy armchairs and warm lighting. It’s a space made for conversation, comfort, and community. Of course, you’ll still find the friendly faces and great drinks you know and love – just with a few thoughtful enhancements.

While we’ve kept the heart and soul of your favourite local, we’ve added a few touches to make it even better:

• Cask & Craft on Tap – We’re pouring four Ossett Brewery cask ales, real cider and five SALT craft beers alongside our new crisp, fresh Helles lager Hell Rat. You will also find premium wines and spirits, an array of alcohol-free beers, spritz and much more sitting right alongside. Or do you fancy a lunch time coffee with a little treat? Pop in and try our selection of new bakes and cakes.

• Cocktails with Character – We’re serving six premium cocktails on tap, all created by a talented local supplier. Fast, fresh and full of flavour – including a brand-new Limoncello Mojito that’s perfect for summer sipping.

• Street Food by BaoBros23 – We’re thrilled to welcome BaoBros23 as our new kitchen partner. Expect a bold and flavour-packed menu, featuring soft and fluffy bao buns filled with slow-cooked meats, crispy tofu, spicy slaws and more. The perfect addition to any pint.

• Live Music Every Saturday – Start the weekend right with live local music every Saturday from 8pm. We hand-pick the finest local musicians to create the perfect atmosphere, fitting for a Saturday night.

• Quiz Nights – Put your knowledge to the test with our weekly pub quiz every Wednesday. Plus, on the first Wednesday of each month, it’s a themed quiz night – with extra fun, prizes and surprises.

• Board Games & Pub Classics – Rediscover the joy of classic pub pastimes with our growing collection of traditional board games – ideal for a relaxed afternoon or a rainy-day escape.

• Family & Dog Friendly – We’ve reestablished a pub that truly welcomes all. Bring the kids, bring the pup -everyone’s part of The Clock Inn family.

Why The Clock Inn?

Our name is a nod to Oakwood’s proudest landmark – the Clock Tower just across the road. It’s a local symbol of time well spent and that’s what The Clock Inn is all about. A place to pause, unwind, connect and enjoy.

A Pub for the People.

This isn’t just a lick of paint – it’s a return to proper pubs heritage. We’ve created a space that feels like home, the refurbishment brings in traditional design touches, with timeless pub décor, inviting nooks and the sort of atmosphere you won’t want to leave. It’s a pub that celebrates the past, while serving up the very best of today’s food and drink.

Join us on Friday 25th April from 12pm for our re-opening celebrations -with great beer, mouthwatering bao, live music and the comforting charm of a proper local pub. Whether it’s a post-work pint, a Saturday night singalong, or a quiet drink by the fire, there’s always time to Clock Inn.

Jamie Lawson, Owner of Ossett Brewery & Founder of SALT said “The Clock Inn is our way of honouring everything that makes a great British pub truly special – warmth, character and connection to the local community. This isn’t just a refurbishment, it’s a heartfelt return to proper pub values, with a few modern touches to make it even better. We’ve brought back the comfort and traditional charm that people love, and introduced exciting new food, drink and the atmosphere to match. We can’t wait to see people making memories here once again – it’s time well spent.”

SALT PARTNERS WITH THE ENTREPRENEUR BEHIND HUBB.

SALT and hubb unite to create an exceptional craft and coffee experience in the heart of Leeds City Centre.

Following on from the recent and successful launch of hubb at Dean Clough on the outskirts of Halifax town centre in August of this year, Dr Nadir Zairi former managing director and existing non-executive director of SALT has chosen to join forces with the brand inside one of their Leeds city centre taps SALT Leeds City, which is known for its accomplished craft beers and 10 second pour cocktails ‘on tap’.

Together, they are set to take the Leeds’ craft beer and coffee scene by storm. This partnership will see the integration of hubb’s craft coffee and delightful freshly baked goods into SALTs already extensive menu of craft beers, cask ales, cocktails ‘on tap’, artisan wines and more, allowing patrons to enjoy the experience whether you’re savouring a flaky croissant with a velvety nitro cold brew coffee on your lunch break or indulging in that well-earned after work pint with your colleagues.

As part of this exciting partnership, SALT Leeds City which opened its doors in August 2021 will undergo moderate changes in order to welcome the new innovation and enhance the overall experience. One significant transformation includes extending the already significant bar to span the full length of the venue, creating a dedicated space for hubb’s own serving section. This modification is designed to seamlessly integrate the coffee bar’s offering with the existing ambiance and of course offer customers their very first taste of nitro cold brew coffee on tap in Leeds.

Nitro cold brew coffee is a trend that has been rapidly growing in popularity worldwide. Its smooth and refreshing taste, coupled with a natural sweetness and lower acidity, has made it a favourite among coffee aficionados.

Dr Nadir Zairi said, “I am super excited to be teaming back up with my SALT family and bringing the hubb nitro coffee concept to Leeds. By joining our craft coffee concept with SALT’s craft beer and cocktails offering we are showcasing the evolution of the modern venue, catering for everyone from 7am until late.”

“hubb came about from a love of coffee and all of the interactions that centre around coffee experiences. We can promise that love translates to our full menu be it a flat white, nitro cold brew or freshly baked pastry.”

This exciting venture is set to launch to the public on Friday 27th October with free coffee for the first 50 customers. So don’t worry Leeds, it’s only a short wait until you can get your own SALT x hubb fix.

Opening times:
Monday – Thursday 8am – 11pm,
Friday – Saturday 8am – 1am,
Sunday 12pm – 9pm

NEW LEASE OF LIFE FOR HISTORIC COMMUNITY PUB

SALT Brewing & Ossett Pub Company are pleased to announce their joint venture on the renovation and reopening of the incredible Georgian building in the centre of the Horbury community formerly known as ‘The Bingley Arms’.   Now to be affectionately renamed as simply ‘The Bingley’, in line with how locals have always revered this much loved watering hole.

The purchase and refurbishment of the site has seen the breweries invest over £1 million into the venture, the former coaching inn will open its doors for a grand public reopening on Friday 23rd June.

‘The Bingley’ is the first collaboration between SALT and Ossett & an impressive addition to both breweries’ venue portfolios. Heading back to the homeland of Ossett Brewery, The Bingley is just two miles away from the brewery and is the perfect venture for both breweries involved.

Renovation has included a redesigned internal layout, new bar area, essential structural work, new open mezzanine, new Georgian style wooden windows throughout and an open plan street food kitchen.  The interior decor creatively combines the SALT influenced contemporary & modern look alongside Ossett’s traditional features such as real fires and exposed stone.

Situated between the River Calder and the Calder and Hebble canal, the pub enjoys stunning views of both waterways.  The newly constructed front beer garden will seat around 100 customers and to the rear there is a further traditionally flagged seating area, along with a unique decked area directly overlooking the canal. The scenic canal and towpath offer and unrivalled spot for drinkers to sit and enjoy the summer months. The original, prominent ‘Bingley Arms’ stone carved signage has been repainted in gold to further enhance the imposing character of the 18th century building.

The Georgian pub has stood on Wakefield’s Horbury Bridge for over 200 years, originally built in 1822. The Bingley has thousands of commuters passing the busy area around Bridge Road each day.

With a huge range of award-winning craft beer from SALT, alongside traditional cask ales from Ossett, it is set to be every beer-lovers’ heaven. But it’s not just about the beer, they will also be offering a huge range of spirits, wines from Barrique Fine Wines (the groups own wine wholesaler), Cocktails “On Tap”, soft drinks and much more.

Delicious Asian street food will be up for grabs on the second floor by street food vendor, Baobros23, famous in West Yorkshire for its award-winning Asian steamed buns.

Owner Jamie Lawson said: “The reopening of this once extremely popular pub is a key post Covid investment for our two breweries, SALT and Ossett. We are so excited to put this landmark pub back on the map after an exciting face lift which will inject new life into the Horbury Bridge community.

“We rescued the Bingley with ambitious restoration plans. Those plans were put on hold by the pandemic hitting the hospitality sector particularly hard but after 6 months of hard work we are ready to open the doors. We look forward to welcoming both old and new customers back to The Bingley with a unique site that offers something to all”

We can’t wait to open the doors & welcome you all for a pint or two!
